I’m David Foster and I am campaigning not only for your vote in the Town Council Ward One election but, most importantly, to start a serious conversation on the future of Chestertown.
We all love Chestertown but we have fallen in love with a small town at a time when small towns all over our country are in peril. Forty percent of small towns are already shrinking and another 30% are hanging on by their fingernails. Our own tax base is declining while our debt is growing and we are already one of the highest taxed communities in Maryland.
To remain viable and to protect the small town we love, we have got to become more proactive in seeking to attract small businesses, both to provide jobs for young families and to help avoid further tax increases for all of us.
